ESTANCIA HELSINGFORS - PATAGONIA

LOCATION
The Estancia Helsingfors is located at 450 km from Río Gallegos, at 150 km from El Calafate and 170 km from El Chalten by land and 30 km by sailing from El Chalten.

TO ARRIVE
By air, there are daily flights to the place. Sailing "Huemul" offers regular departs form El Chalten and by land it has an easy way to get there from National Route Number 40. From Rio Gallegos, Provincial Route Number 5, then National Route Number 40 and Provincial Route Number 21


HISTORY OF HELSINGFORS
At the beginning of this century an adventurous Finish man, called Alfred Ramström, adopted Patagonia South as his second hometown. He settled down at the base of the Andes mountains, on the South West side of Viedma's Lake, eith a spectacular view of Mount "Fitz Roy" ("Chalten" in Tehuelche dialect). Remembering his homeland, he named the ranch with the name of the capital of his country" at that time , "Helsinfors".
His great love for trees made him change the main part of the ranch in a pine forest that welcomes the visitors.


THE RANCH
In the 60's, the ranch was bought by his present owners, who started to become true an old dream: to share this magic place in the Argentinean Patagonia with all people who want to know it. This is the beginning of the "Helsinfors Inn", among the memories of the old ranch.

This inn has double and three bedrooms. All rooms with private bathroom with total of eighteen rooms. The gastronomy is both traditional and high international level

Our engagement with the environment is the use of the hydroelectric turbine of twenty eight kw which feeds the heating, the electricity and hot water in a clean and quite way during twenty four hours.


ACTIVITIES
During your stay, you can combine the pleasure of staying in a place attended by his owners, with a lot of activities to do, like trekking, horse riding, sailing in the lake and visiting the glaciers, fishing, riding and the typical activities of a traditional Patagonic ranch


EXCURSIONS
Laguna del Morro, at only twenty minutes sailing from the Inn, a beautifull and quiet place, that is an additional activity, in the sightseeing that we offer.

Glaciar Moyano, by a navigation of about 40 to 60 minutes, it is acceded at the extreme SO of the Cerro Moyano. And you see the Glacier of the same name, the Cerro Moyano and Norte, one of the most remote areas of the National Park

Anfiteatro de la Cascada, An spectacular sailing that leads to the front of the Viedma Glacier. During the sailing the boat arrives at the spectacular "Anfiteatro de la Cascada".

Laguna Azul, up to Ramström stream and after three hours walking or horse riding you arrive at the indescribable Blue Lagoon, fed by the Glacier and surrounded by monumental mountains. You can watch a great variety of wild animals and plants
