SPECIES AND
METHODS
This is the paradise for salmonids,
with six excellent species: rainbow trout, brown trout, brook trout, lake
trout, landlocked salmon, Chinook salmon. The main method is fly-fishing,
although in some areas spinning and trolling are also practiced. The latter
fishing reserved to big lakes, such as the Nahuel Huapi, Argentino, Buenos
Aires, La Plata, Fontana, and modern regulations tend to restrict it even
more and more.
SEASON
The fishing season runs from
the first day of November to April or May. In some areas authorities are
trying to allow fishing throughout the year in line with the biologic
characteristic of the fish species.
LEGAL REQUIREMENTS
Fishing in Patagonia is regulated
by a common and reciprocal law that is applicable in all the provinces
below the Colorado river (Neuquén , Río Negro, Chubut, Santa
Cruz).
It is a modern piece of legislation, an example for all fishing in Argentina
as well as other countries. Anglers acquiring their fishing license are
also given the regulations that every fisherman needs to know.
