This winter sports complex is named La Hoya ("the hole") on
account of the mountain's shape: a large glacier arena on which all runs
converge at the same point at the foot. It is the perfect spot to enjoy
sports and nature, because it is located right in the Argentinean Patagonia,
in a privileged area peppered with stunning lakes, such as Futalaufquen
and Menéndez, in Los Alerces National Park. This center also boasts
other attractions and activities: you can take a trip on the mythical
"La Trochita" steam train, or go on a tour of Travelín
- a Welsh settlement that has kept its ancient traditions alive both in
its people and in desserts and jams. The runs were especially designed
to be used by skiers of all skills. However, the most salient feature
is the possibility to practice off-piste skiing and snowboarding, which
makes this one of the best resorts of this king in South America.
SKI AND SNOWBOARD SCHOOL La Hoya has 2 ski schools
that give skiing and snowboarding lessons for trainees of all ability
levels using the Argentinean technique, a system that guarantees an efficient
and speedy learning process.
Escuela Infantil: Skiing and snowboarding classes for 3-to 5-year-olds.
The instructor at the Jardín de Nieve are especially skilled to
teach young children. This complex also operates a daycare center providing
entertainment and games.
LIFTS There are 8 modern lift facilities,
which can carry 4,600 skiers per hour.
GROOMING AND
SNOW-MAKING FACILITIES
Maintaining the runs in perfect condition requires 3 grooming cats which
keep snow in its original state. There is also an artificial snow making
system that significantly improves the condition of the trails.
