South America's second-largest lake (after Lago Titicaca), Lago General Carrera is the source of the Río Baker, Chile's highest-volume river and a top destination for fishing trips. A tremendous wilderness surrounds the lake, including the towering glaciated peaks of Monte San Valentín and Monte San Lorenzo. Located near the southern end of the Carretera Austral, this area is a favorite for overland trips and multi-activity tours.
